As a pensioner, when can I expect to receive my monthly pension?

Monthly pensions are paid on the 27th of each month, with the exception of December, where the payment is made earlier. If the payment date falls on a weekend, payment will be made on the Friday.

As a pensioner, will I receive a bonus?

A 13th cheque is payable in November of each year subject to affordability.

As a pensioner will I receive an increase in my pension?

Pensions are increased in July of each year. The increase is equal to the percentage increase in the consumer price index for the twelve month period 31 May to the 31 May preceding the July in which the increase is given.

I have a postal address and/or cell phone number but no email facility. How will I receive my tax certificate?

Tax certificates are distributed annually in July.

Tax certificates are distributed by email to pensioners with an email facility. Pensioners with only a postal address will receive their tax certificates by post.

As a pensioner, what happens when I pass away?

If you are a pensioner that retired in the Fund and have an eligible spouse, a spouse’s pension may become payable on your death. If you pass away and do not have an eligible spouse, the monthly pension will stop.

If you retired before 1 July 2021

If you pass away during the first five years of retirement and you do not have an eligible spouse, the balance of the pensions payable for the remainder of the five-year period will become payable to your beneficiaries, and the monthly pension will stop.

If you retired on or after 1 July 2021

If you pass away during the first ten years of retirement and you do not have an eligible spouse, the balance of the pensions payable for the remainder of the ten year period will become payable to your beneficiaries and the monthly pension will stop.
